In the Digimon Card Game, the alternate-art (alt-art) versions — Secret Rare and Special Rare printings with full-art or textured foiling — are where the real money sits. Same card, same playability, but a far smaller print run and a much prettier finish. Here is how to read their value.

Why alt-arts cost more

Every big chase card has a “normal” version and one or more alt-arts. The alt-art typically has a lower pull rate, a full-bleed illustration and premium foiling, so it carries both collector demand and gem-mint scarcity. On the biggest names the alt-art can be worth many times its standard counterpart.

The Omnimon [Alternate Art] – BT1-084 is the game’s signature alt-art and its most valuable card, with graded sales around $2,600 in BGS 10. First-set, fan-favourite fusion, tiny gem-mint population — it ticks every box that makes an alt-art expensive.

Other alt-arts and chase treatments worth knowing

• WarGreymon printings (ST1-11, BT12-070, BT14-101): the franchise mascot shows up across sets, and his premium versions range from roughly $490 up to $935 graded.
• Omnimon: Merciful Mode – BT9-083: around $585 graded — a later Omnimon variant that kept the name’s premium.
• MetalGarurumon – BT15-101 and MagnaAngemon ACE – BT14-037: around $325 graded, strong mid-tier alt-art chase.

• Check the exact print. The set-and-number code (for example BT1-084) decides everything — the standard and the alt-art of the same Digimon are different cards with different prices.
• Raw versus graded. Alt-arts gain the most from a high grade; a clean copy is worth grading, a played one usually is not.
